29 January 2013 The Swindon and Wiltshire Local Enterprise Partnership is pleased to announce the appointment of two new board members, Neil Holt and James Phipps. The LEP has been actively seeking a replacement for Jane James following her resignation last year, but the strong field of applications resulted in the board deciding to appoint two new members. Neil Holt has more than 20 years experience of corporate and international banking. He joined international consulting engineers Halcrow (now CH2M Hill) in 1998 and was appointed a Director of Halcrow Group Ltd and Halcrow’s main board in 2000. Neil is also a member of the Export Guarantees Advisory Council, a Non-Executive Director (and Chair) of Swindon Commercial Services Ltd and Non-Executive Director of Transparency International UK Ltd. James Phipps is a successful entrepreneur and CEO of Swindon-based IT and Communications business, Excalibur Communications. As Wiltshire’s Business Person of the Year in 2012, he is heavily involved within the local community. He sits on the Swindon Influence Board and financially supports Wiltshire Young Enterprise and Swindon Town Football Club, whilst his company will be title sponsors for Swindon Speedway in 2013. Paul Johnson, Chair of the Swindon and Wiltshire LEP said: “Our board vacancy produced an exceptionally strong group of applications and in consequence we have been delighted to have been able to strengthen our board with two appointments that will support key sectors identified in our business plan.” “Neil Holt brings a wealth of experience with Halcrow and CH2M Hill and we have asked him to lead our transport infrastructure initiatives. His wide expertise will be a welcome addition to our board and provide informed expertise to the emerging Local Transport Body. James Phipps is recognised for his award winning SME business leadership and for his active involvement in the local community. His enthusiasm and practical SME business experience puts him in a great position to drive our SME business sector agenda.” “We were encouraged by, and much appreciated, the commitment and expertise shown by the business leaders who applied to join the LEP board. This further underlines the increasing recognition of the progress the LEP is making with its economic growth agenda.
