HTC has introduced Windows Phone 8X and 8S smartphones at a New York event. The new mobile phones, which have updated software, camera and audio technology,will be the signature devices for Microsoft’s upcoming Windows Phone 8 OS system. They are suitable for both personal and business use. Microsoft chief executive, Steve Ballmer, said he was confident that consumers would be pleased with the devices – telling uk.reuters.com at the showcase:”Consumers are going to love these phones and we’re committed to reaching them in a manner that’s clear and direct.” The phones will both have 4-inch screens, with the 8X having a slightly larger face at 4.3 inches and they will be able to use the new 4G network dependent on wireless carriers. They also have new high-end cameraswhich have beenoptimized forlow-light photography. The 8X boasts an eight-megapixel back camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera. The 8S has a five-megapixel back camera, but no front camera. The smartphones also have improved sound quality features for music and movies – using the Beats Audio software, which hasn’t been used on any other Windows smartphones, according to Scot Croyle, vice president of design at HTC, reports computerworlduk.com. The phones, which were announced in June,succeed the current Windows Phone 7.5. They will go on sale in November through 150 mobile operators in 50 different countries.
