Getting the most out of Office 365: Microsoft Forms

Welcome to our first blog in the ‘Getting the most out of Office 365′ series. Over the next few months, we will be discussing the practical uses and benefits of various Office 365 software’s which we feel don’t receive enough attention.

Office 365 is one of the most popular business software packages available. With its intuitive interfaces and collaborative applications, there’s no doubt it can support most job functions and provides users with a seamless and efficient working experience. But the question stands, are you really making the most out of the what the software package has to offer?

In this blog we talk about how Microsoft Forms can be used to support your business, both internally and externally.

What is Microsoft Forms?

Microsoft Forms is an Microsoft Office 365 data capture application that can be shared to anyone via a link. It provides complete customisability over the questions and allows the user to actively monitor responses through a range of reports.

The application is available to anyone on the following licenses: Office 365 Education Suite, Office 365 Business Essentials, Office 365 Business Premium, and Office 365 Enterprise E1, E3, and E5 plans. Microsoft Forms is also available to existing Office 365 Enterprise E4 customers who purchased E4 before its retirement.

What can you do with Microsoft Forms?

1. Create a survey

Microsoft Forms is a great tool for creating surveys that can collate both qualitative and quantitative data. Questions are easy to input and, once set up, it just takes a couple of clicks to share a link that allows recipients to populate your survey.

Responses are captured instantly.  You can choose to receive e-mail notifications for every submission or once you’re ready to view the results, you can access the data through the responses tab.  This comes with an option to export all the results into Excel.

2. Create Quizzes

Microsoft Forms has a question & answer feature that allows partakers to see the correct results once they’ve submitted their answers.

The quiz feature is great for custom made assessments/tests in the work place or arranging more informal activities. At Excalibur we often use quizzes for social and team based events that support employee engagement and wellbeing. It’s an easy way to add fun trivia to themed events like Christmas parties or company celebrations.

3. Customisability

Microsoft Forms is fully customisable, so you can build and view your survey or quiz any way you want. Forms comes with a number of theme pre-set templates to choose from or you can simply add a colour or background of your choice.

It’s a tried and test and feature that’s simple to use and enables you to bring a high level of polish/finish to any survey or quiz you create.
