Peter Boucher, Excalibur CEO, commenting on its Best Companies achievement,  said:  “2020 to 2021 has been a particularly tough year to measure and manage staff engagement.  The Coronavirus lockdowns have of course affected the business, but more importantly impacted the wider Excalibur team across their professional and personal lives.

“We looked at ways of doing business differently while working remotely to minimise isolation and encourage team work, all be it on Teams.  We also introduced more regular one-to-ones between employees and line managers.  There was remote fun to be had too via a number of online all company events including quizzes, a virtual wedding celebration and the distribution of a family half term hamper for Halloween.”

Excalibur’s vision is to be famous for Staff and Customer engagement and drives a number of key initiatives that support its vision:

  • A Health and Well-being Programme with a focus on physical, financial and mental health.
  • Recently introduced a monthly Excellence Award that recognises employees who demonstrate the company values and go above and beyond. The winner receives a personalised award.
  • Investment in regular leadership training to support open communication across the business and employee development.  This year Excalibur placed 10 line managers through the Living Leader programme.
  • Charity support for employee nominated charities.  Initiatives include voluntary salary sacrifice scheme, charity challenges (cycling, climbing, bake sales) and volunteering.
