Android 42 rumoured to be released in November

Rumours are flying across the blogosphere that Android 4.2 could be announced at a event in November, reports techradar.com. The event, which LG will also be attending, is also rumoured to contain an announcement regarding the LG Optimus G Nexus; signalling a shift in the Nexus brand for Google. Usually, the Nexus brand has been reserved for Google flagship devices only. However if rumours are to be believed, Google is to let any manufacturer release devices as part of the program – just as long as they stick to stringent parameters set by the search giant. In order to qualify as part of the Nexus family, firms will need to create devices that use stock Android and hold 64MB of secure memory for faster memory streaming. However, they will be able to add custom user interface skins as part of Google’s new ‘customisation centre’. LG has been rumoured to be working on a Nexus phone for a while, which is reported to be the follow up to the quad-core LG Optimus G. Consequently, the LG Optimus G Nexus could be pencilled in as a potential device for employers looking to replace their current roster of business mobiles. According to trustedreviews.com, Android 4.2 has been ‘logged by some web servers’, so test versions of the operating system do exist in some form. New features could potentially include multi-user logins, enhanced Maps, a revised dialler, improved camera features and native support for wireless display standards, though none of this is confirmed.
