Cloud jobs increase by 72 per cent

Job vacanciesrelating to cloud computing have increased by almost three-quarters in the last year, computerworlduk.com reports. As use of web-hosted servers and applicationscontinues to rise throughout the world, there has naturally been a greater need for cloud specialists. According to technology job-site Dice.com, there are typically over 3,800roles up for grabs in this sector. A study carried out by the job-site discovered that ‘cloud’ roles had increase by 72 per cent and that the positionfor which employers are most commonly recruitingis Cloud Architect. This is followed by Cloud Software Engineer, Cloud Sales Executive and Cloud Engineer. Many other roles are apparently evolving into those which require cloud expertise, such as the humble project manager or businesssystems analyst. Dice.com has noticed lots of ‘hybrid’ job titles appearing that incorporate such requirements. DevOps, for example, used torefer to ‘straight development and straight operations’ but has now been transformedto fitthe new cloud-focused IT strategies. According toJohn Reed of recruitment consultancy, Robert Half Technology, this is because employers are looking for someone to provide business IT support but with ‘hands-on’ cloud experience. “These analysts need to have both experience and critical analysis skills to understand which [IT systems] need to go in to the cloud first to help the company achieve the gains the cloud promises,” Mr Reed told cio.in.
